FALL
- Fall Outdoor Games – In September and October Needham Fastpitch will be fielding 12u, 14u, and 18u teams in the Charles River Softball League. To be eligible for one of these teams, players need to have been that age or younger on Jan 1, 2011. The teams will be playing against include Newton, Wellesley, Weston, Dedham, Parkway, Lexington, Waltham, and Natick. The games will be on Sunday mornings at 9am and 11am. There will be 7 Sundays from 9/11 through 10/30 except no games on Columbus Day weekend.
- Pitching Lessons – Again this year Needham Fastpitch will be conducting semi-private pitching lessons in Needham school gym space. The lessons will again be taught by former Needham grad and professional pitching instructor Dayna Yorks and will run from September through April. Dayna has done wonders for so many girls in this area and the girls love her. The lessons will be one hour a week on Thursday nights and the fee will include an open gym night on Tuesdays so the girls can practice what Dayna is teaching them.
- Hitting Lessons – NEW THIS YEAR – Following the successful model of our pitching lessons, Needham Fastpitch is partnering with the Babson College softball program to offer semi-private hitting lessons. The ratios will be kept low – no more than 3 girls to one instructor – so the girls can get the personalized instruction they need to really advance their skills. These lessons will be held inside the gym at Babson College on Sunday nights starting in September and running for 10 weeks for $300. Time slots are 8pm and 9pm with 6 openings at each time. Days are Sept 11, 18, 25, Oct 2, 10 (Columbus Day), 16, 23, 30, Nov 6, 13.
- Total Skills Development – Babson College softball will be running total skills clinics in their gym this fall. It will be an 8 week program where the girls will be working on all aspects of the game. The dates will be Sept 25, Oct 2, 10 (Columbus Day), 16, 23, 30, Nov 6, 13. There will be two time slots. Younger girls: 5 – 6:15, and older girls 6:30 to 7:45. We will distribute the flyer from Babson when we get it.
